Services For Seniors

Free personalized quote is provided once I’ve viewed the home and assessed the condition and size. Pricing will either be flat rate or hourly, which ever is a better value for the client. Payment at closing on sale of the home may be available in some situations.

These are services that have been tailored to meet the unique needs of Seniors, as they navigate change in their lives. There is likely to be some overlap in these services, so after we chat and I view the home, you’ll be provided with a free quote with a couple simple package options. Should there be an imminent move, the size of the new home will determine how we proceed with the process.

Here are some of the options available, and what’s included in each of them:

Preparing for Transitions

We usually work with the senior person directly with this package, but a trusted helper or two from their family (or friends) are welcome to assist. Essentially, this is preparation for the changes that are happening in the near future. We can start 3-6 months ahead of the move (or longer in more extreme cases).

  • We go room by room, taking an inventory of each item. The client advises where the items are going to end up: the new home, relative (with name), donate (preferred receiver if requested), to be sold, trash, etc. Each item is documented, and categorized (as above).

  • We also identify important knickknacks, family heirlooms, antiques, and photographs - so those cherished items to be passed along to family are easily identified and safely stored.

  • An expandable file (or similar) is provided for essential important legal paperwork that is found as we move through the home. That way it is available for quick and easy access.

Downsizing

The next step in the process would be downsizing. When the time is near to move from a larger home: into a smaller home, into a family members home, or into an assisted (or independent) living facility. We will need to view both the old and new home to assess size and available space.

  • Items going to other people, to be donated, etc. are moved into categories so they can start going to their designated location.

  • Items ready to be packed up are safely prepared and packed into boxes, which are clearly labeled.

  • Once the home has been packed up and cleared out, it is fully cleaned top to bottom so it is ready to be sold - or whatever might be its next steps. This is an optional step, but highly recommended. Especially if the home is going to be put on the market, or if other family members will be moving into the home.

Guidance for Families After Passing

Best case scenario, we have completed the “Preparing for Transitions” package above, but if you just found this page, no worries. Traditionally, family and loved ones are tasked with going through an entire home, garage, and sometimes even a storage unit, full of items after their loved one passes. This can be extremely overwhelming and burdensome for family members, especially because they are already deep in grief from the loss of a loved one, and now they have to make big decisions of who gets what on top of that. However, we can guide you through the sensitive situation with compassion and understanding, and assist with not only sorting through the belongings, but preparing the home for sale, if needed. There is also a move out cleaning service available. And we have many resources available - including a couple of amazing real-estate agents who specialize in selling homes for families in these specialized situations.

Below are other services offered to anyone, however, they will likely be modified to meet the Senior clients (and their family members) specific needs. Please use the link after each service for more information on what they are about…
